In 1 line, SG Pole Challenge was amazing! Suzie Q and Toby J was amazing! As mentioned in my earlier blog post, SG Pole Challenge was held over the weekend at Iluma, Tornado-Se7en. It was actually quite an interesting venue. It was a segmented portion of Tornado, which is kind of like an entertainment zone with arcades and what not. So it had a high ceiling, which allowed a feeling of spaciousness compared to the usual drinking venues. The theme for the event is Goth, so most of the costumes and performances were tuned towards that direction. The judges were fantastic! Very poised and professional. Suzie Q and Toby J were both judges and performers for the event! There were actually 2 more judges, 1 from the International Pole Dance Fitness Association, and 1 from Prime Gym. Unfortunately I couldn’t get them all into the photo. And I shall blame it all on my ancient camera. The performers for the event sure had loads of fun! and definitely all this would not be possible without The Fairy Goth Mother Ming (also known as Suzie Wong), the founder of Acropolates! Enjoy the...

I Finally did it! I applied for EZ-Reload for my ezlink card. Before the new CEPAS compliant cards came out, auto top ups were actually very common. You basically go to the ticketing machines, link it up to your bank account via giro, and they will do the transfer every time the fare card goes below a certain amount. However, EZlink got greedy, and they started charging a $0.25 ‘convenience’ fee for this service. Seriously, is it necessary? Then, we migrated to the new CEPAS system adopted by the Singapore Government to allow for more players in the industry. In comes NETS Flash Pay. Essentially, it is a competitor product by NETS into the contactless micropayment space. But given the way things are in Singapore, it’s probably not going to change much for a duopoly. In any case, I found out that the POSB Everyday Card has a 2% rebate for EZ-Reload. So basically what this means is that if you top up $50, you get $1 in rebate. Deducting off the convenience fee of $0.25, you would actually earn $0.75! Applying for EZ-Reload actually took me less than 5 mins of my time: 1) Go to the EZ-Reload website and apply for EZ-Reload by card. 2) Enter in your details, in particular, your credit card number and your EZlink card number. 3) Wait for an acknowledgement email or sms (This takes 2-3 business days however) 4) Go to a General Ticketing Machine in the MRT stations to activate the EZ-Reload. 5) Tada! You’re done! Pretty simple stuff. So why wouldn’t you use auto top up?...

I was just starting the 4-Hour Body, Slow Carb Diet just on Monday this week which I mentioned here and here, and what a pleasant surprise! Tim Ferriss came out with a video of the speech he did recently about the book. It’s actually quite a messy video, because of all the content he tries to put in. But again, I would suggest people who are interested to buy the book!...

I just got an iPad recently, and being the fiscal conservative I am, I got a 2nd hand iPad1 with warranty left. Pretty good deal if I must say so myself. So being my first apple product, I didn’t know what to expect, since theres always stories that apple tries to lock people into doing what they want them to do. Unfortunately, it’s true. You can’t share photos and songs, you can’t copy things to it without itunes, you can’t install apps that is not apple approved, you can’t plug a usb drive or a sd card to it (unless you pay more for the accessories), you can’t this, you can’t that. They even try to prevent you from using facetime or skype if you are using 3G, rather than wifi. Gah. So anyway, it seems one of the easiest ways to have access to things is to install DropBox. Essentially DropBox is a cloud computing model, where you would have a 2gig (and more) space online. You would then install a software on your computer and any other devices. So once you copy a file into the designated directory on your computer, the DropBox software will automatically upload it to the cloud space, and then you can download it with any of your other devices. The key thing is having it as seamless as possible, by having the directory recognised as one of the local directories. Will have to test it out further, but from the looks of it, it should be good news! But as usual for apple, I would expect a lot of limitations. Don’t understand these apple fanboys. Also, they have this referral program, where if you have someone open an account with DropBox, you and your friend would get an additional 250meg in your DropBox, up to a maximum of 8gig! Pretty decent indeed. Definitely worth a try for iPad users!...

One of my favourite inspirational clips. Do watch the show, Facing the Giants, if you can. How true.. We sometimes quit even before we start. We don’t think we are strong enough sometimes or it is just simply impossible. But we have to endure it for in the end it is worth...
